CNIT in Paris
The CNIT "Center of New
Industries and Technology" is a conference and
exhibition center in Paris, France.
It occupies 28,600 square meters of
land, and a large part of the space
functions as an adjustable,
multi-purpose center suitable for a
wide array of activities and events.
The modern structure showcases
cutting-edge technology and
innovation.
It houses two
amphitheaters, one with 750 seats
and the other with 1,200 seats,
which make it the ideal venue for
large scale events such as the
Losangexpo, the Trade Tech, APEC
exhibitions and the
French
Rheumatology Society Conference.
During the boom of the French
industry in 1950, Emmanuel Pouvreau,
leader of the French-Machine Tools
Builders Union, planned for the
making of a building which he
thought would symbolize the
country’s flourishing prosperity.
The architect commissioned for the
dream project was Jean de Mailly. He
designed a massive triangular vault
spanning over two hundred square
meters resting on three points of
support.
The site selected for what was to be
the first structure in La Defense
was a roundabout on the side of a
hill at the end of Le Notre’s royal
avenue. The location, being easily
accessible, with ample underground
parking, and featuring a lovely
hanging garden, was the perfect spot
for the avant-garde structure. |
